A sound instrument based on the idea of an ‘ocean drum’, a drum that imitates the sound of the sea at the shore. The drums are made from steel and filled with tiny erratic pebbles. When the drum iss are moved and slowly tipped over into different directions, the pebbles slide and cause a sound: An abrasive resonance, referring to the transportation of the erratic rocks, sliding with the glaciers and meltwater across the landscape. When played outside, under a certain angle the metal discs reflect the sunlight, relating to the theory of the ice ages being connected with the Earth’s orbit around the Sun. |
