“Many ancient cultures knew that the rays of the sun were encoded with a language of light that transferred information directly to the mind, influencing and affecting everyone with a subtle stream of Cosmic Intelligence. […] Sometimes people would even hide from the sun because they felt that the sun’s rays could read their minds; and if they sought to keep secrets and have no one know what they were doing, they chose to operate in the dark, as it were.” (From: Barbara Marciniak: Path of Empowerment – Pleiadian Wisdom for a World in Chaos, 2004)

In the video Orb three performers reflect the light of the sun, seek contact, communicate, connect in a meditative state, using mirroring objects. These weaponlike tools are made from steel with inlays from gold, tin/antimony, copper. The metals are associated with different planets and celestial bodies – Mars, the Sun, Jupiter, Venus – with which they share their energetic properties. Influences from different cultures, science fiction and martial arts are melted in these hybrid objects with a multilayered functionality, addressing the co-existence of destruction and creation, aggression and healing, materiality and spirituality and the transformative potential that these polarities offer.
The movements of the performers are accompanied by a whooshing noise, fluctuating between indifinite sounds and the association of passing vehicles. The choice for the sounds of a highway is a reference to the movie 'Solaris' from Andrej Tarkovsky, where the journey to space is illustrated by a drive on the highway.
