The video Ellipse tells a semi-fictive story on bird and rock migration in relation to the glaciations and cosmic forces. The story is mainly based on quotes from the British ornithologist Charles Dixon (1858 - 1926), who searched for and also made up a relation between the migration and spreading of birds and the glaciations. His theories were later disproved and thus gave me the freedom to approach the subject in a similar personal and fictional way - a reflection on longing and belonging. The title refers to the theory of Milutin Milankoviç (1879 - 1958), who linked the ice ages to the Earth’s orbit around the sun. Sounds and music are provided by Johannes Eimermacher and La Nuée, a band from Brussels that explores flock behaviour as a leading thread for improvisation.
